John and Jote bring years of live performance, songwriting and community music experience to every relaxed, laughter-filled session.

Singer-songwriter & community choir leader

John Blaylock

John is a Manchester singer-songwriter, guitarist and experienced community singing leader. He runs nine community singing groups, creating friendly spaces where people can enjoy making music together without auditions or pressure.

His own music has taken him from Manchester to collaborations and performances around the world. His debut album was recorded at London’s legendary Konk Studios and produced by double Grammy winner Guy Massey alongside songwriter Helen Boulding.

John brings that professional experience into every Fun Singing Company session — keeping things welcoming, choosing familiar songs and helping even the most hesitant voices feel part of the group.

Violinist, singer & string arranger

Jote Osahn

Jote is a professional violinist, singer and string arranger who studied at Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music and in Switzerland with violinist Volker Biesenbender.

Her recording and touring career includes work with Snow Patrol, Elbow, Gorillaz, The Cinematic Orchestra, Bonobo and The Maccabees. She has performed as both a violinist and vocalist, and has created string arrangements for a wide range of artists.

In Fun Singing Company workshops, Jote adds expressive live violin, vocals and a brilliant instinct for bringing a song to life — helping turn a room of colleagues into one joyful sound.
